Holly is a research scientist in the West Lab and is from Cumming, GA. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S.A in Animal and Dairy Science and a Ph. D. in neuroscience. Holly’s primary research focus is on studying the regenerative and therapeutic capacities of induced neural stem cells (iNSCs) in both in vitro and in vivo models.
Holly is currently studying the effect of transplanting human induced pluripotent-derived neural stem cells (iNSCs) into the brain of a piglet traumatic brain injury model. She is studying the ability of these cells to reduce secondary injury and to integrate into the brain and regenerate the damaged tissue. She is also assessing the ability of iNSCs transplantation after traumatic brain injury to improve motor function, learning, and memory.
