Porcine Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy Team

The porcine regenerative stem cell therapy team brings together leading experts in stem cell biology, exercise physiology, nutrition and veterinary medicine to develop novel stem cell therapies for the treatment of acute and chronic diseases and injuries. This cross disciplinary effort enables in depth study of how pig induced pluripotent stem cells (piPSCs) can differentiate and function in pig disease models providing valuable insight into how these cells may ultimately function in human patients. The pig large animal model with similar anatomy and physiology to humans is expected to be a better predictive model system. This will enable stem cell therapies to reach the clinic faster, while insuring their safe use.
